Just a girl who decided to go for it....

Lately I have been REALLY thinking about what I want to do in life. Not that I haven't before....I mean hello, that's what I did all of college lol. But seriously thinking about what I love and what makes me happy and how I can inspire those younger than I am in my family through what I choose to do with my life. My main focus is to do something I love and show the youngin's that you can do what you love, be successful and don't have to conform to what everyone around you thinks you should be. I've figured it out for myself (details to come) and for the first time in a long time I am excited about what's to come and the route I am taking. It is such a great adventure to be planning (a dream without a plan is just a wish right?) and working on doing something I love despite what anyone else has to say about it. I'm so Blessed to be surround by women who are already doing things similar to what I want to do and to have mentors and people rooting for me. I can't wait to share what I'm working on mid 2014 and I encourage EVERYONE to do what you love and not let fear of failure keep you from going after your dreams. Look around you, people everywhere are doing it so why shouldn't you as well?

Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving!

Keep NOT Settling.....

One of my favorite lifestyle blogs just got a makeover and boy do they do the damn thing! If you haven't checked out TheEveryGirl.com yet what are you waiting on!? The layout is beautiful. Sleek, clean and easy to navigate. The blog features everything from financial budgeting and career advice to home decor to fashion and beauty. Definitely a wonderful resource for young women on the rise (such as myself might I say). One of my favorite things about the blog is that they always have inspiring young professional and entrepreneurial woman featured on there. Telling stories of how they got to where they are now, the good, the bad and the ugly. At the end of the interview they ask women "What advice would you give your 23 year old self?" and I just love hearing the advice from successful women who are where I am working toward getting. On the new layout they have an entire page you can go to entitled "Heard on the everygirl" (under the career and finance tab) which list inspiring quotes from interviews done on the everygirl. I absolutely love it! It's nice having a place you can go to daily for inspiration....I mean "every girl" needs constant inspiration for SOMETHING right?? Anyway here are a few of my favorites. I'll post a link below that will send you directly to the "Heard on the everygirl" tab. I'm off the rest of the week (I know be jealous) Happy Holidays! Enjoy!

Continue to find inspiration in even the simplest of things....

Fall in Love

It's FINALLY that time of the year...FALL!

My favorite time. The weather is starting to break here and I couldn't be happier. I love everything about fall: cool breeze, pumpkin EVERYTHING, leather jackets and chunky scarves and what better way to stay warm on a cool fall night than to cuddle of course. Not to mention holiday season is just around the corner...Here are a few of my fall favorites, what are yours?

I love a great leather jacket and chunky scarf. I feel like the 2 can glam up any pair of jeans, heels and simple t-shirt in the fall. Definitely my style...Simple and Chic with a touch of Glam. Asos.com has some great leather and faux leather jackets and scarves on their site: Shop Here

This year when Bath and Body works had their first 2 for $22 sale I stocked up on some new scents I hadn't tried before and this scent was by far my favorite. It smelled as though I had baked fresh blueberry muffins all day! Mmmmmmm....Find this candle and many more on their website Here or in your local store.

Now I can't find you anyone to cuddle with but I must say....I'd take this over going out any day!

Happy Harvest!

No Pain Is Forever....YEP! You know this.....

I've been feeling really gloomy lately.....stresses of everyday sure have a way of trying to knock you down. Much like the Midwest weather these last 2 days. Gloomy sky's, chances of rain & unpredictable weather don't help. I can't wait to see crisp sky's, colorful leaves & feel a cooler temperature. This year has been nothing short of tough but I'm positive it's only up from here. Hey.....on the bright side it's a short work week for me! Wh00p! Wh00p!! Oh! and I straightened my hair last Friday. First time in 6months AND I gained about 2inches of growth and the health of my hair improved DRASTICALLY. I won't do it again until December when I go see Beyoncé for the second time this year lol (first time was in Nashville, such a sweet gift ;-) )

All about Hair.....

Me (top right and bottom left and 2 of my friends early 2013)
(Business partner and part 2 of Luxury Alliance Duo Top left photo)

Let's talk hair. Let me start by taking you on a quick hair journey. I've had long hair all of my life. At 12 years old my mom got me a relaxer (chemical straightener) because she was working 2 jobs full time and couldn't hot comb my hair straight anymore due to lack of time. I got relaxers until the age of 18 when my, then hairstylist, dared me to go an entire summer without a relaxer (oh the horror! lol).....Let me rewind, my scalp was SUPER sensitive to ALL relaxers. I mean to the point of where I was 16 and 17 crying.....ANYWAY, I went this 1 summer without a relaxer and LOVED not having to suffer through the fiery burn of a it. The rest was history! A year later I cut my hair into a bob. Now here I am 5.5 years later and I am natural and loving it (and growing my hair back out long). It took me some time to 100% accept the hair that grew out of my head but now I LOVE it. The versatility of being able to wear my hair curly or straight, the health of my hair, and the fact that I'm doing something a lot of people are scared to do. Rock their natural hair.

With that being said people should embrace what they have. Straight hair, curly hair, afro, skinny, curvy, freckles, brown eyes, blue eyes, WHATEVER. Being confident and sexy is NOT about what you look like on the outside, it's a feeling. When you're TRULY confident in yourself you evoke confidence and sex appeal no matter what! You feel as though you can rock ANYTHING. Stop letting society dictate how you feel about yourself and DO YOU!

For those wondering, here are some of the products I LOVE for my natural hair:
  • WEN cleansing conditioner (any scent)
  • Wen site
  • Deva Curl: No poo, Once condition
  • Devacurl Site
  • Shea moisture: Curl Smoothie and Deep Conditioner
  • Shea Moisture info.
  • Mixed Chicks: Deep Conditioner
  • Dr.Bronners: Coconut Oil

Hey you guys! I'm so excited to be writing my very first blog post. I've spent the last 3 years religiously following a few beauty, fashion, interior design and lifestyle blogs (which I will later share with in a later post) and FINALLY stopped being lazy and set up my own. I can't wait to share beauty, fashion, and interior design/lifestyle tips, tricks and images that keep me inspired. I hope to keep the inspiration coming at least once or twice a week for now. Hope you guys enjoy and my blog can bring the inspiration to help inspire you to make your dreams a reality. Until next time.....Besos!!
